Halloween is just around the corner, and you might think it isn’t a good time to sell your home. Well, that’s not true. Halloween can be a great opportunity to show off your home and the fact that it’s for sale. There are many ways you can go about marketing your house creatively, while still enjoying the holiday spirit. Continue reading to find out how to sell your house this fall season. We provide you with our best home selling tips that you can use to attract buyers and ensure a quick sale!

Firstly, show off your home with ‘tasteful’ decorations

Selling a house is serious business, but this doesn’t mean you can’t partake in fun holiday activities like house decorating. Decorating can be a great way to make your home stand out in your neighborhood and boost your home’s curb appeal. A well-thought-out decor can help your home make a better first impression among potential buyers. And sometimes, first impressions alone can sell your home.

But don’t go overboard with decorations! Keep them tasteful and to a minimum. Go for kid-friendly decorations with a fall theme instead of a spooky theme. Remember, you want to sell your home, not scare people away from your front yard. So, try to avoid stuff like ghosts, skeletons, witches… or any other thing that can make your house seem like it’s haunted!

Good decoration choices include some potted mums, pumpkins, gourds, and corn stalks for the front porch and a simple fall wreath for the front door. You can also try some bright leaves or some colorful flowers around the “For Sale” sign for some added attention. And most importantly, don’t forget to add some lights: you want to be able to show people your home in all its glory when it gets dark in the evening.

Hold a Halloween-Themed Open House

Holding an open house is great for marketing your home for sale. It’s also a fun way to show off your place to property buyers. Though you want to avoid completely spooky decorations for the outside of your house, this doesn’t mean you can’t decorate the inside of your house for the specific purpose of hosting a Halloween-themed open house. But again, don’t get too scary. Your goal is to sell your home, so it’s important that guests and potential buyers feel welcome, safe, and comfortable when entering your home.

The great thing also about having extra visitors through your house during this time is you can palm off some of that candy that has been sitting there trying to tempt you. A perfect solution for those home sellers watching their sugar intake

TOP TIP: The more attractive your price point the more visitors you’ll have who in turn will consume more candy!

More Exposure

Young children are often accompanied by their parents while trick-or-treating. So, every costumed kid you get coming to your front door is also an opportunity to expose your house to a potential buyer. So, splurge and buy the full-size candy bars to attract as many kids as possible!

More Serious Buyer Pool

The best thing about selling your house in the fall is that you’re dealing with a more serious pool of buyers. By the time October rolls around, these buyers are itching to get their move settled before Christmas (and before the snow flies). Nobody wants to move in the snow or during the busy holiday season, so potential buyers usually want to get things signed and sealed as quickly as possible.

To everyone, during this fun, family time, have a wonderful and safe Halloween.
